O.F.G. Radio: Episode #2

only my second week and already i'm bringing in guests! it's for a good cause though, don't worry!!! this week's episode is dedicated to previewing and maybe building up a little hype for my roommate lisa's birthday party, taking place in this very house (ours) next friday. the theme of the party? the 90s. so of course, the theme of this podcast is: the 90s. and i got lisa to help me out with picking some tracks, and sharing the occasional anecdote about those picks. in this hour, we attempt to convey, through the power of 90s alt-rock and hip hop, all the reasons why you should be at that party. this was a fun one. get nostalgic.

  1. Listening. Already I've got my listen's worth: I always thought the Gin Blossoms song was "Hey Chelsea," not "Hey Jealousy."

  2. Also, as much as I love some Destiny's Child, I think TLC better defines the female R&B niche of the 90's. A little "Creep" or "Diggin' on You" maybe?

And "Creep" reminded me of that particular Radiohead track, or any of the greats off The Bends.

But this is a solid 90's show. Really, really weird to think that the 90's ended nine years ago and started nineteen years ago. It reinforces the weirdness of going to my college campus yesterday for the first time in three years and feeling really old compared to all the kids.

  3. yeah it was tricky coming up with a playlist for this show because we wanted to do something 90s-defining but also avoid taking any from the 100+ songs we have in the 'party' playlist right now. which includes the songs that are probably MORE 90s-defining, including (spoiler alert) tlc's "creep" for one!!
