gosh, it's fun doing one of these with a bunch of short, snappy pop songs. i can cram a ton of tracks into an hour-long playlist! i mean, those lengthy shout out out out out jams were fun last week, but in this episode, i was able to include two or three songs from a few artists i thought deserved it, and was still able to feature 15 different artists! going back about 30 years with this one, to the late 1970s and early 1980s (it's nearly been 30 years since the early 80s... eye-opening). the overarching theme is power pop, but don't hold me to it for each and every song. i was already running late getting this one up, and fighting off a cold, so i didn't bother re-recording any of the spoken bits -- hopefully the music will make up for it, and you'll hear some stuff from the era that you enjoy.

ReplyDeleteDamn, JLA. I thought I'd just spin this while doing some boring stuff, but you turned my lunch-making and bathroom-cleaning afternoon into a fucking rock-out. Never mind the fact that, for whatever reason, I've never heard of any of these bands before. It started fast and kept going the whole hour with solid track after track.
ReplyDeleteI was going to save this for next week's drive to Chicago, but I can't resist OFG Radio. And besides, unlike talky podcast This American Life bullshit, I can dial OFG Radio up to 11 multiple times. This will definitely get a replay.
