thx jla.
ReplyDeleteGood to see some Japandroids love. I've listened to that album six times in the past two days.
Listened. Enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteDitto about Animal Collective. I player-hated it when it came out, but it's really a summer album that, for whatever reason, came out in winter. I recently listened to it driving back from Chicago, and it played pretty well across the barren wasteland of Wisconsin.
Also true about White Rabbits sounding a bit like Radiohead. Those guitars in that song are very reminiscent of "I Might Be Wrong."
Japandroids are unstoppable on my iPod. I love the closer "I Quit Girls." Some might get turned off by the falsetto, but I love the guitar sound and the drumless intro. That band alone might confirm my attendance to P4K.
Loved how you mentioned the obligatory rap section. Some great picks this time around. Not that I'm cool enough to know what constitutes that, given that I only listened to Tha Carter III because Pitchfork told me too.
You haven't made a new podcast in so long that I went ahead and made my own: http://jdkentala.blogspot.com/2009/06/jdk-radio-001.html
ReplyDeleteAnd even though I don't really want to do it again, since making a 12-track mix and posting the individual MP3s as a zip on drop.io and letting the listener arrange them in iTunes is far easier than crossfading and adding the cheesy vinyl scratch, etc., I might start outpacing you.
Not that we're competing or anything. My music tastes are dictated by Pitchfork, you, Dan K., and the 3 times a year when I listen to indie radio when in a car that doesn't have my CDs.
